About The Texas Tribune Festival

The Texas Tribune Festival is a yearly festival hosted by The Texas Tribune that is a platform for politicians, policymakers, journalists, and other media personalities to talk on the relevant topics of today, as well as for attendees to interact with and exchange ideas with others, regardless of how closely their beliefs align.

What I’m doing: I will be documenting my experience and the experience of other guests at TribFest, then synthesizing this data, finding common themes, etc.

How am I doing it: Interviews, photos and videos (vlogging?), people watching, journey-mapping…

Why it matters: The team would like to understand areas of improvement in guest experience. I would like to explore ways in which the tribune team can create spaces for productive, engaging, and genuine cross-pollination and sharing of ideas, and propose concepts and ideas for future versions of TribFest.

Stakeholders: Jacob Villanueva and The Tribune’s Festival team

Disclaimer: because of the large scope of the research, I don’t necessarily expect it to be super profound. Is this something I need to reconsider?

Interviews

I will be actively seeking out and trying to chat with attendees who belong to these groups:

Students

A ticket to TribFest isn’t cheap. As a student, attending an event at this scale and price point is an investment. I’m curious to see what brings in students to Tribfest, what they hope to get out of it, and what they’d like to see more/less of.
